Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck Purchase Reduced-Priced Paradise

Key Takeaways:

  • Lopez and Affleck purchased a stately manor in Beverly Hills
  • The couple purchased the home at $74.1 million less than initial listing price
  • Developer Gala Asher had purchased the mansion in 2016 and renovated much of it

Hollywood heartthrobs Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have closed at a greatly reduced price on a multi-million dollar mansion in Beverly Hills. Known for their respective successful careers and an on-again-off-again love affair that culminated in a Las Vegas wedding in 2022, Lopez and Affleck shared luxury spots in Miami Beach, the Hamptons, and Montana.

The Beverly Hills mansion, known as the Wallingford Estate, is their most extravagant pad yet, coming in at 38,000 square feet. The five-acre property is quite a lot of land for the pair, but that also means some high-end amenities that call into question how the couple closed on the mansion at $60,850,000 when it was listed in 2018 for $135 million.

A Star-Studded History

As with many estates in Beverly Hills and much of Los Angeles, the 38,000-square-foot mansion was owned by luxury real estate developer Gala Asher. Asher often makes headlines for selling lavished properties, such as his recent sale of a $31 million La Quinta, CA mansion. When he first listed the Beverly Hills estate in 2018, it was the highest-priced property on Realtor.com® at the time.

For whatever reason, the mansion stayed on the market for four years before Asher was able to sell it to Lopez and Affleck. However, it did take reducing the price by $74.1 million. For the couple that purchased it, the estate was quite the value.

An Amenity-Rich Escape

For nearly $61 million, Lopez and Affleck took ownership of a 12-bedroom, 24-bathroom, spacious fortress and a 5,000-square-foot guest penthouse, a two-bedroom garden house, and a caretaker house.

The primary building is an extravagant display of contemporary shades, with a heavy focus on plain white and dark accents like black and deep brown. There’s a unique indoor/outdoor space with a fireplace and mounted television and plenty of room for a large sectional couch. One wall opens up, granting access to the inviting zero-edge pool and accompanying shaded lounge area.

Lopez and Affleck will also be enjoying amenities like a pickleball court, a sports lounge, a bar, and a full sports facility complete with seating and a basketball net. None of this is even touching on the features of the living space itself, which features stunning modern touches like tray ceilings, stark-black banisters, and decorative flooring throughout.

The purchase of the new estate came after Affleck quickly sold his Pacific Palisades home for $28.5 million. While he saw rapid success with his listing, Lopez is still trying to sell her Bel Air palatial estate, which she had first intended to renovate for her life with Affleck. Originally listed at $42.5 million, the property was dropped to $40 million as it awaits a new owner.
