Tim McGraw and Faith Hill Sell Their Private Island in the Bahamas for $35 Million

Key Takeaways:

  • The famous country music couple bought the island called L’île d’Anges or Goat Cay in 2003
  • They spent several years building their four-bedroom home along with beach yurts, staff quarters, and more
  • They put their private estate on the market in February of 2021 and have since sold it for $35 million

Building Their Dream Estate

When the couple originally purchased their Bahamas oasis in 2003, they had no idea how big of a project it would be to create the property that they had envisioned for themselves. When they got started, they lived, not in a luxury home, but in a combination of eight different pavilions or loggias scattered throughout the 20-acre island. For just under 10 years, from 2003 to 2012, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill had to build a small town from scratch out of their raw and natural island.

Not only did they have to establish infrastructure for clean water, electricity, and internet, but they had to build housing for all of the builders who worked on creating their dream home. Once they had laid the groundwork, Tim and Faith teamed up with architect Bobby McAlpine who designed their compound inspired by the land that they built it on and their connection to nature.

The 6,517 Square Foot Mansion

The main house on the island is situated up on a hill in the center of the island and boasts stunning panoramic views of the entire piece of paradise. In order to feel most connected to land, the 6,517 square foot home features over 5,000 additional square feet of covered verandas and breezeways. McAlpine designed the home so that each of the eight main rooms are connected by covered breezeways so you can catch a beautiful ocean breeze while making your way from the kitchen to your bedroom. McGraw, Hill, and McAlpine wanted the building to be functional but really blend into the environment.

In addition to the stunning master suite with huge walk-in closets and en suite bathroom, there are three additional bedrooms for their children and their guests. The private pool terrace is just steps away from the 1.3 miles of coastline with a private dock. They decorated it with seemingly mismatched décor as they waned the home to feel inspired by being shipwrecked. As touring artists, they often traveled all over the world playing music and for their own island, they wanted to create something that they truly couldn’t experience anywhere else.

Selling their Oasis

After living in their finished home for almost ten years, the pair listed their entire island for sale in February of 2021. Months later, in October of 2021, the estate sold for a whopping $35 million to an undisclosed buyer. Tim McGraw and Faith Hill currently reside in a historic Nashville estate that they purchased in 2020 featuring 5 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, and over 600 acres.
