Hollywood Living Isn’t For Everyone

When you think of celebrities, you think of Hollywood—it’s long been the place to be for the rich and famous, boasting massive estates and the best of luxury living. But life in the Hollywood Hills isn’t for everyone, even the most glamorous actors and musicians out there. Let’s take a look at a few A-list celebs who decided to flee Hollywood for a quieter life.

Julia Roberts

Just because she’s one of Hollywood’s most recognizable actresses doesn’t mean she wants to call the city home forever. In 2020, Julia Roberts and her husband made to decision to head north for San Francisco. The Oscar winner has said that she wants to raise her children in a quieter, more diverse neighborhood away from the opulent and public lifestyle you expect in Hollywood.

Now, Roberts and her family call San Francisco home, residing in a gorgeous townhouse located in the quiet Presidio Heights neighborhood. Featuring just over 6,200 square feet of living space, this artfully designed home features breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge, five bedrooms, a custom kitchen, and a balcony.

Kanye West

Following an incredibly public divorce, Kanye West decided to leave Hollywood behind for a quieter life in Wyoming. Previously, Kanye lived with his now ex-wife Kim Kardashian and their children in a $20 million Hidden Hills home which they spent millions more renovating and updating to match their luxurious lifestyles.

Now, Kanye calls a $14.5 million Wyoming ranch home, giving him plenty of room to escape reporters and paparazzi. The property features five bedrooms and four bathrooms across four buildings. West has plenty of equipment and space to create more albums and keeps horses on the property as well.

Matt Damon

A long-time Hollywood heartthrob, Matt Damon has decided to leave the Hollywood lifestyle behind. The Boston native opted to take his family back east and settle down in New York City. His Pacific Palisades home sold for $17.9 million after the family decided they weren’t spending enough time on the West Coast to justify keeping the property.

Now, in NYC Damon and his family enjoy life in a luxurious penthouse in the Brooklyn Heights neighborhood. The $16.7 million home is one of the most expensive properties in the area and spans two floors. The building is also home to other Hollywood stars like John Krasinski and his wife Emily Blunt.

Post Malone

After skyrocketing to the top of the Billboard charts in 2013, Post Malone made Holywood his home. The New York native was renting a Beverly Hills mansion with over 11,000 square feet of living space, including six bedrooms and nine bathrooms.

But the rapper decided it was time for a change of pace and relocated to a $3 million Utah oasis. Tucked into the mountains just outside of Salt Lake City, this sprawling property features 12,700 square feet of living space, including a basketball court, recording studio, wine cellar, and home gym.
