The Manor is Back on the Market

Aaron Spelling’s former L.A. mansion is back on the market for $165 million. The late producer once shared the home with his wife Candy, and their daughter Tori. His productions included many notable hits over the years like The Love Boat, Beverly Hills 90210, and Charmed.

The property was last sold in 2019 for $119.75 million to 594 Mapleton, a limited liability company—at the time, it was the priciest sale ever in L.A. County. Today, it’s the 3rd most expensive property on the market in L.A.

Here’s a closer look at what sets this impressive manor apart from the rest.

A sprawling property

This 56,500-square-foot was built for the Spelling family in 1991. The mansion once held the title of Los Angeles County’s largest home. The property itself is 4.7 acres, and the home contains 123 different rooms—including 14 bedrooms and 27 bathrooms.

And the outside of the home is just as extravagant as the inside. Numerous patios and terraces overlook the rolling landscape. The expansive yard contains rose gardens, fountains, citrus orchards, sculptures, a swimming pool, a koi pond, and tennis courts.

Of course, the size of the property means that it takes a team to care for it. When the Spellings called the manor home, they had a crew of 30 employees cleaning, cooking, and landscaping the property.

Unique spaces around every corner

What are all of those rooms for? Aaron’s wife, Candy, certainly went all-out when it came to making the home her own. And there’s a room for just about every purpose—you’ll find a pool room, a private bowling alley, a large home theater, and a beauty salon.

But beyond the bedrooms and living rooms, there are a number of rooms with very specific, and unique, purposes. Take the doll room for instance—a large space dedicated entirely to Candy’s expansive collection of over 1,000 dolls. There’s even a room dedicated to gift wrapping and another specifically for flower cutting.

Petra Ecclestone, who owned the home after the Spellings, made some unique touches of her own. She added a marble lounge, aquarium, and nightclub to the property, and updated the interior to be more modern with black and white color palettes throughout.

Tons of inspired designs

A lot of thought went into the design of the home and the Spellings took inspiration from some of Hollywood’s most famous scenes. Take, for example, the 40-foot-high foyer. Its inspiration comes from Gone with the Wind’s O’Hara Plantation—an iconic building in film history.

But the luxurious inspiration doesn’t stop there. The property holds a beautiful wine and cheese room, taking inspiration from classic French architecture. It’s completed with sidewalk-café-style tables and chairs.
