With over 600 acres of parkland, 26 miles of paths and trails, a wealth of beautiful golf courses, and access to several major lakes and large bodies of water, Westerville, OH is a wonderful place to enjoy beautiful summer sunshine. Take a look at my four favorite ways to enjoy the outdoors in Westerville!
1. Visit a Park
Parks in Westerville are a great way to get outside, connect with nature, explore beautiful scenery, partake in a game of frisbee, tennis, or ball, or simply enjoy a good book under the shade of a quiet tree. Some of my favorites include the Sharon Woods Metro Park, Inniswood Metro Gardens, and the Char-Mar Ridge Preserve. Plenty of trails, lakeside scenery, beautiful gardens and flowers, and lots of quiet spaces!
2. Get Some Exercise on the Westerville B&W
The Westerville Bike & Walk Route is a color-coded, mapped, and measured system of trails that stretches through the city and connects several local parks and recreational facilities. It’s a great place for a walk or jog because distance markers posted along the trail let you know how far you’ve gone, and kiosks provide maps and information about upcoming water and rest stations.
3. Spend a Day on the Water
Yes, I mean everyone’s favorite, the Hoover Reservoir! It’s a popular spot for anglers, boaters, paddlers, sailors, and beach lovers, but even if you aren’t looking for an afternoon out on the water, there’s plenty to enjoy. Lush fields, scenic trails, and even disc golf provide entertainment that doesn’t involve swimming or boating. There are even sailing clubs and races you can partake in or enjoy from the shoreline.
4. Hit the Golf Course
Get your clubs ready, practice your swing, and get ready to drive golf balls in some of the most breathtaking countryside scenery around! Many of these courses offer amazing amenities, such as pools, social clubs, and tennis activities. Some even rank among the Top 100 Courses in America and have played host to premiere golfing tournaments and events. Some are even so exclusive as to permit entrance and membership by invite only!
