The Conjuring House is On the Market!

Key Takeaways:

  • A house that may or may not be currently haunted has gone on sale for over a million dollars!
  • When even paranormal investigators want to leave, it might be a sign that something is going on.
  • If you aren’t crazy about the idea of being haunted by paranormal elements from beyond this world, I’ve got great listings—maybe you can have a Conjuring marathon in one of these Central Ohio houses instead!

How Could It Be Haunted?

If you found yourself browsing through photos of an isolated, picturesque farmhouse and admiring the cozy, historical interior—a living room trimmed in pale green, with a library full of colorful books and tastefully decorated with varying shades of brown and cream—you might laugh if someone told you this was the house that inspired the revered horror film The Conjuring.

That is, until you learn that the current owners are paranormal investigators, and that ghost hunters have rented one-night reservations through 2022.

A house out of a horror movie

Yes, you read that right. Paranormal fans are crazy about this (possibly) haunted house.

The house at 1677 Round Top Road, RI, was built in 1736 and definitely shows signs of wear, but it’s an elegant piece of film culture nevertheless. It’s now on sale for $1.2 million—and even at such a steep price, it’s easy to imagine hundreds of buyers willing to take it off the market (although it remains unclear whether those ghost hunter renters will be able to achieve their dreams once the new owners take over).

A bit of history

What makes this level of fame even more interesting is that the farmhouse wasn’t actually the location of The Conjuring filming. Rather, this is the house that investigators visited in the ‘70s after the Perron family, then residents, reported paranormal activity. They claimed they had experienced flying coat hangers, floating scythes, random odors, a constant chill, and house flies buzzing around in winter.

The screenwriters of The Conjuring drew on the investigators’ case files surrounding the claims and their inspection for inspiration—that, and the book House of Darkness House of Light written by one of the Perron sisters, Andrea, about what the family had experienced.
